1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing the Lahore Bar Association’s website (the “Site”), registering for membership or using any services provided by the LBA (collectively, the “Services”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must discontinue use of all Services immediately.
2. Membership Terms
2.1. Eligibility: Membership is open to individuals who are duly licensed advocates and are eligible to practice law in Pakistan, subject to the approval of the LBA’s Executive Committee and in accordance with the LBA’s Constitution and bylaws.
2.2. Membership Dues: Members agree to pay membership dues as determined by the LBA. Failure to pay dues may result in the suspension of membership privileges, including access to member-only resources and voting rights.
2.3. Code of Conduct:
Members must at all times adhere to the highest standards of professional conduct as prescribed by the Pakistan Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act and the LBA’s own code of ethics. The LBA reserves the right to suspend or terminate the membership of any individual found in violation of these standards, subject to a fair and impartial disciplinary process.
2.4. Accuracy of Information: Members are responsible for providing and maintaining accurate and current personal and professional information in their membership profile.
3. Intellectual Property Rights
3.1. Ownership: All content on the LBA Site and within its Services, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, images, audio clips, digital downloads, data compilations, and software, is the property of the Lahore Bar Association or its content suppliers and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.
3.2. Limited License: The LBA grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and make personal, non-commercial use of the content. You may not modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information obtained from the Services without the express written permission of the LBA.
4. User Accounts and Security
4.1. Account Responsibility: If the Services require you to create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password and for restricting access to your computer. You agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or password.
4.2. Security: The LBA will implement reasonable security measures but cannot guarantee that the Site or its databases are immune to unauthorized access, breaches, or other security lapses. You agree to notify the LBA immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
5. Privacy and Data Protection
Your privacy is important to us. The collection, use, and protection of your personal data are governed by our Privacy Policy. By using our Services, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability
6.1. “As Is” Basis: The Services and all information, content, and materials are provided by the LBA on an “as is” and “as available” basis. The LBA makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, as to the operation of the Services or the information, content, or materials included.
6.2. No Legal Advice: Content provided by the LBA, including on its website and in its publications, is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice.
6.3. Limitation of Liability: To the full extent permissible by applicable law, the LBA shall not be liable for any damages of any kind arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Services, including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, and consequential damages.
7. Third-Party Links and Services
The LBA Site or communications may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by the LBA. The LBA has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. You access such links at your own risk.
8. Amendments to Terms
The LBA reserves the right to update, change, or replace any part of these Terms and Conditions at its sole discretion at any time. It is your responsibility to check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of the Services following the posting of any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
10. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the validity, legality, and enforceability of the remaining provisions will not in any way be affected or impaired.
